Top designer Nicole Farhi wants her clothes to do the talking and talks down the modern obsession for celebrity endorsement in all walks of life, writes Sarah Dunn. No-nonsense fashion designer Nicole Farhi sparked controversy when she revealed that top designers pay celebrities to sit in the front row of their catwalk shows. The French designer exposed the fashion world’s ‘guilty secret’ when she talked of how labels forked out big money for big names to show their faces at their runway shows. Her revelations were a well-kept secret in fashion circles – but Nicole says she never expected such a reaction to her comments in February.
